Abstract

The territorial division through the creation of new political-administrative units in the territory has generated opposition in the Costa Rican political authorities, so the communities face the challenge of persuading about the need for their political and administrative independence.

Julio Andrey, Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica

Political scientist from the University of Costa Rica. He is currently an advisor in the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Costa Rica, he was a research assistant at the National Politics Observatory of the University of Costa Rica and the Center for Research and Political Studies, both at the UCR. With experience in the area of research on subnational governments and parliamentary processes. He co-authored the work entitled “Systematization of violence and crime prevention interventions in the municipalities of Mora and Moravia, from the institutional capabilities approach.” for the CONOSE Network and InfoSegura.

Dorellis Hernández Zacarias , Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica

Political scientist from the University of Costa Rica and economics student.

She is currently an advisor in the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of Costa Rica, is a research assistant at the Development Observatory Research Center and was a collaborator at the Political Studies Research Center, both at the University of Costa Rica. He has experience in the area of research on subnational governments, parliamentary processes and public opinion.
